Welcome to The Body Works. I'm Victoria, a specialist Manual Lymphatic Drainage therapist based in Wilmslow. I founded this clinic from a deep passion for the body's healing ability, after witnessing the profound impact MLD had on a loved one's recovery.

As a fully qualified and insured MLD therapist certified in the renowned Vodder Method, I am dedicated to the highest standard of care. I help clients manage lymphoedema and lipoedema, accelerate post-surgery recovery, reduce inflammation, and feel lighter through detoxification treatments.

Our Approach to Lymphatic Health

Manual Lymphatic Drainage is not like a traditional massage. It is a very light, precise, rhythmic technique performed directly on the skin, targeting your lymphatic system — a vital part of your immunity. By encouraging lymph fluid movement, I can help:

  • Reduce swelling and fluid retention
  • Speed up recovery after cosmetic or orthopaedic surgery
  • Soothe discomfort from lymphoedema and lipoedema
  • Boost your immune system and clear toxins
  • Promote deep relaxation and reduce stress
  • Minimise bloating for a more sculpted appearance

My peaceful, private treatment room in Wilmslow is designed for your complete comfort — easily accessible from Manchester Airport and across Cheshire.

Frequently asked questions

The Basics of MLD

What exactly is Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD)?

MLD is a highly specialised, gentle massage technique that encourages natural lymph fluid movement around the body. It helps reduce swelling, remove waste products, and support your immune system. Unlike traditional massage, it uses very light, rhythmic pressure targeting the lymphatic system just beneath the skin.

What are the main benefits of MLD?

Clients seek MLD for reducing swelling (post-surgery, fluid retention, lymphoedema), detoxification, aesthetic sculpting to minimise bloating, immune support after illness, and deep relaxation that soothes the nervous system.

How is MLD different from deep tissue or sports massage?

Deep tissue and sports massage use firm pressure on muscle knots. MLD uses exceptionally light, skin-stretching movements. The goal is not to work muscles, but to stimulate lymph vessels below the skin's surface.

Your Session & What to Expect

What does an MLD treatment feel like? Is it painful?

MLD should never be painful. The touch is feather-light, gentle, and rhythmic. Most clients find it incredibly soothing — many fall asleep during their session.

I've had cosmetic surgery — when is it safe to have MLD?

MLD is key post-operative care for many cosmetic procedures. While you should follow your surgeon's advice, MLD can often begin within days of surgery to manage swelling. Please get in touch to discuss your specific procedure.

How should I prepare for my appointment?

Drink water beforehand and avoid a heavy meal in the hour before your session. Just come ready to relax.

Do I need a referral from my GP?

For wellness or aesthetic treatments, no referral is needed. For specific medical conditions like lymphoedema or post-surgical recovery, I'd recommend discussing with your GP or specialist first.

Aftercare & Results

What should I do after my MLD session?

Drink plenty of water, avoid caffeine and alcohol for the rest of the day, rest if you feel tired, and note that increased urination is a positive sign your lymphatic system is working.

How many sessions will I need to see results?

For de-bloating before an event, one session can produce noticeable results. Post-surgical recovery or chronic conditions usually need a course of treatments. I'll discuss a personalised plan at your first appointment.
